Roast Harness

By Jeff

Finished

A coffee roaster drawn in gold and colour on indigo after al-Jazari's machines: a water wheel turns a pierced copper drum over a brazier through toothed gears, a pegged cylinder above works the levers, and roasted beans fall into a cooling tray. Beside it, a roast curve follows its written program across a ruled scale.
Painted with AI after al-Jazari's Book of Knowledge of Ingenious Mechanical Devices (1206). The roast curve and the abjad labels are drawn in code.

This is a placeholder post, to be rewritten before launch.

Roast Harness is a desktop app for roasting coffee. You write the roast you want ahead of time, as a program, and Roast Harness runs your roaster from it: the charge, the heat and airflow through the roast, and the drop. When the batch is done, it reads back what the roaster recorded and helps you adjust the program for the next one.

It's coming first to macOS. Read more on the Roast Harness page (opens in a new tab).
